Malaysia AXN Challenge 2005

Thank You Message

Dear participants,

A BIG congratulation to all the teams who took part in the Malaysia AXN Challenge last week. All the teams put in a tremendous effort and it was great to see the amazing spirit and determination that the teams displayed. It was our biggest and most ambitious race to date. There has never been a race course like this in AXN's 4 year history of organizing adventure races around Asia. It had:

• the most mystery tests with a total of 13 devious and body-contortion challenges
• the longest flying fox which whizzed participants 125 meters across the picturesque Lake Gardens
• the highest abseil with a heart-stopping 85 meter descent from Berjaya Times Square

Arguably, the race also qualified for the following accolades:

• Mystery test most likely to result in a bare butt - the tire climb in the obstacle course at CP4
• Mystery test most likely to have team-mates get acquainted with each other's sweaty body parts - the Brick Balance at MZ 2

We would like to thank all the teams for racing safely and displaying a sense of responsibility for public safety. There were a few "Junctions of Death" that we were concerned about on the bike route but happily everyone kept a level head and put safety first.

We also saw some incredible examples of sportsmanship. Deserving of special mention is Team Bantai who upon catching up with Team Putrajaya Extreme at Thien Hou Temple lent them their bike pump for the mystery test.

Throughout the day, we saw teams encourage one another and display remarkable character. Every team has a story to tell from the race; a funny moment to relive, some difficulty when you had to dig deep to overcome the problem, a moment of fear or exhilaration or a time when a team-mates' steadying hand said all that words just cannot express.

We designed an adventure race that would challenge the body and stretch the mind. However, you, the teams, put in an ingredient all of your own; you raced with heart.
