Outdoor Climbing Routes in Malaysia

Photos by Mike Tee (http://www.densityonline.com)
Climbing is a sport that is quickly catching up in this part of South East Asia,
with many 'untapped' and unexplored areas. For the time being, two outdoor areas
are regularly visited by climbers of all abilities, whether they are there for
their first climb, or more experienced climbers there to try out newly bolted/trad
routes. They are Batu Caves and Bukit Takun, both located within 20
to 30 minutes' drive from Kuala Lumpur. There are some natural routes up in Penang
Island, Perlis, and a couple of bolted routes in Ipoh, Perak.
The following are information on some of the main outdoor climbing areas in Malaysia.
» Batu Caves, Selangor
» Bukit Takun, Selangor
» Jesselton Park, Penang
» Taman Etnobotani Gua Musang, Kelantan
» Gua Kelam, Perlis
